Morpheus Venture Partners (MVP) adds successful valley entrepreneur to team, announces new batch of 10 startups

The latest batch has a diverse set of startups ranging from apparel, financial services, automotive, advertising & education domains

Bangalore, India – August 14, 2009 – Morpheus Venture Partners (MVP) (www.morpheusventure.com) an India based venture firm, which works closely with select startups as a ‘limited co-founder’ announced names of 10 progressive startups participating in Batch 3 of its four month Business Acceleration Program (BAP).With this addition, MVP now has 20 companies in its portfolio.

The uniqueness of this batch is the diversity of the startups – ranging from apparel, financial services, automotive, advertising, robotics & education domains. This is also a step away from the original YCombinator program that was the inspiration to MVP’s Partners and focuses largely on web-technology startups.

From classroom to corporate: The rise of a student entrepreneur

It’s never too early to start a venture. Shashank ND of Naabo Solutions paves the way

Shashank ND is as busy as a successful entrepreneur should be. As the founder of Naabo Solutions, a web technology company that offers tailor-made IT solutions for the healthcare industry, he is steering his  two-year old company to hit its annual target of 500 health clinics by 2009-end.

His company, headquartered in Bangalore, is all set to scale up, with 10 full-time employees, 75 clients in its kitty and Rs 15 lakh in turnover.

This is not just another startup story. What makes Naabo’s story special is that Shashank is still a student! Just appeared for his final year engineering exams, majoring in IT at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Shashank started his entrepreneurial journey when he was in his second year, doing what he knows best—coding.

How it all began
Shashank’s first steps towards an entrepreneurial career started in 2006, when he joined the newly formed NEN Entrepreneurship Cell in campus. The E-cell EFOREA (Engineering Forum for Entrepreneurial Awareness) was established in association with National Entrepreneurship Network, an initiative of the Wadhwani Foundation that is working with over 450 institutes across India, building their capacity to inspire, launch and support new entrepreneurs.

TurboDoc.in was launched at Expodent 2009 in Palace grounds, Bangalore. Expodent is an annual dental trade exhibition which attracts over 4000 dental practitioners from across South India.

The product did manage to generate quite a buzz and received favorable reviews and customers. This is the first of many launches of TurboDoc.in across the country.

ENFLAMMER-SEC is a unique contest of Enterprises run by Students. It is a step ahead of B-Plan Contest. The event will illustrate the B-Plans in action. It will showcase the achievements of Student Enterprises to inspire 70 million Young Students in India.

CIE, NITIE will call nominations from the Student Enterprises (SE) across different educational institutes in India. The most talented Student Enterprise will be identified and awarded as “The Best Student Enterprise of the Year”.
